Burlington Prison Museum is located
in Mount Holly, NJ. It was built in 1810, and functioned
until 1965. There is a bloody history that ails the
prison including, but not limited to, a guard that
was beaten to death in the early 1920’s, and
the prisoner put to death for the guard’s murder
is said to be buried somewhere in the prison courtyard.
Investigators present consisted
of co-founder and lead investigator Rob R., co-founder
Boni B. The rest of the team was comprised of Robert,
Dawn, Debbie, Keri, and Margaret. The equipment used
is as follows: 35 mm cameras with 400 speed film
or higher, digital cameras, laser thermometers, 2
EMF detectors, handheld camcorder with night vision,
2 still cameras, tape recorders, dowsing rods.
We did an initial sweep of the building
and the grounds, taking photographs and EVP’s.
Rob R. and Margaret took pictures of the dungeon
area on the second floor and took EVP’s. Robert,
Rob R., Debbie, Dawn, and Margaret surveyed the basement
area where the guard was killed. All of us felt cold
spots. While Robert measured EMF, which was above
normal in the cold spots, Rob R. started to get a
feeling of sorrow and depression in the area.
Outside in the courtyard, Boni B.
pinpointed an indentation in the ground, where she
felt the prisoner is buried that killed the guard.
She also feels that there is more than one body buried
in the courtyard. Dowsing rods used by Dawn and Debbie
began to cross as soon as you walked into the indent,
and would also keep pointing in the direction of
the indent if you walked near it. Photographs and
EVP’s were taken.
Rob R. recorded night vision video
on the second floor of the prison near the dungeon,
you can see the clip of the “Ghost Face” on
the Multimedia section of the web site.
As a result of the investigation,
we have concluded that we all felt a presence there,
and there will be a follow up investigation in September
to gather more evidence.
